If you are willing to change. If you are ready to change.

If for whatever reason you can not get help at this time, here is a series of articles that will help you get a better understanding of your condition and realise that help is available.

But first, when you feel the time is right to get some help – here’s a bit of advice on how to pick an effective recovery treatment

How to choose an effective bulimia or binge eating recovery treatment

Good treatment programme

  • Structured eating to nourish your body to health
  • Flexible rules that are simple and easy to follow
  • Skill building to increase your resilience
  • Work with you as an individual at your own speed

Bad treatment programme

  • Restrictive dieting
  • ‘Silver Bullet’ – show you the one vital secret
  • Expensive and/or secret supplements
  • Over complicated set of ‘iron rules’

A good place to start

A good place to start is this interview I did with Kelly Clark from It Took Me 10 Years To Lose 10 Pounds where I outline the way I help people with bulimia and binge eating to recover.

I have been a fan of Kelly’s for years now. She consistently comes up with great information in a really accessible and fun way.

Kelly speaks from the heart and what she says it simply brilliant. If you follow just one blog make sure it is Kelly’s!

Arm yourself with knowledge

There is so much misinformation out there, that it is often difficult to separate the good from the bad and the ugly. When you are in an emotional state it is difficult to judge good information, from what is misinformed, stupid and often down right dangerous.

I have weeded out the ‘bad and the ugly’ – here is some of the ‘good stuff’

Watch and read what these talented, dedicated and knowledgeable, mostly women have to tell you. Then use that knowledge to judge the value of what the next money making fad diet guru is peddling.

Here’s a good place to start

Grace Victory clean eatings dirty secrets

The Truth About Clean Eating: clean eating’s dirty secrets

Grace Victory investigates what is peddled over the internet as clean eating. This is an informative documentary (approx 35 mins) which shows how clean eating has been distorted into a money making industry.

Can we trust them these self appointed experts? Grace actually asks dieticians to comment on claims by this group such as ‘milk draws calcium from our bones resulting in calcium deficit’ hmm…. can you imagine what the dietician said?

Watch this you’ll love it.

The following videos and blogs will help you recover

The secret way to eat fewer calories

When I see titles like this I inwardly groan and think ‘here we go again’. Not this time. Let me introduce you to Lydia Wente who has a youtube channel called ‘Life with Lydia’. Lydia was a binge eater of many years and one day she read a book – and ‘got it’ – she never binged again.

But she realises that not everyone – ‘gets it’. She sees her channel as a way of helping those people to ‘get it’ put bingeing behind them and get on with their lives.

Lydia is a bit cooky to some tastes but go with it, it’s less than 2 minutes long and she makes a really good point

Stop grazing

This is a brilliant blog by Kelly Clark from www.the10principles.com

Kelly who had spent 10 years of restricting her diet and carrying out a punishing exercise regime. She finished up, basically not eating meals but grazing through the day. But no matter how hard she tried, she was always between 10 and 30lbs overweight. In this blog Kelly tells how she made took on the identity of ‘someone who was a grazer’ – how grazing makes your bulimia or binge eating worse – how she started eating meals again and finally, how amongst other things, she actually lost weight – once she started eating normally.
